Cushwa and Stouffer Architects LLC, headed by Kurt H. Cushwa, architect and Robert L. Stouffer, architect, have been involved in historic architecture work of all kinds for a combined total of nearly sixty years. They consider the existing conditions, potential uses, building codes and historic sensitivity of the subject and help you take a line through the matrix of local, state and federal overview to reach a goal that can be mutually supported. They have accomplished stabilization, maintenance, adaptive reuse, rehabilitation and restoration projects during their careers. Kurt Cushwa has been the recipient of local and state of Maryland awards for sensitive and economic re-use of existing historic structures. Robert Stouffer has worked as architect on projects such as the Montana State Capitol, Lewis and Clark County Court House, Grant Kohrs Ranch, Bannack (Ghost Town) State Park and many other similar projects. Both have presented to historic district commissions, architectural design committees, state historic preservations officers and national parks service regional offices and have both enjoyed the pleasure of helping their clients and community benefit from these processes.
